Building Services Engineering, Rooted in Nassau
Since 1994

Every building – one that’s finished to perfection – hides a small library of decisions nobody sees: which panel carries the load, which pipe run survives a hurricane season, and which wire eventually connects a server room to a front desk.

In Nassau, Bahamas, Chris Symonette & Associates (CSA) has been making those decisions since 1994 – a wholly Bahamian-owned engineering firm that designs the systems hidden behind every finished wall and gets them right the first time, project after project, from a single office off East Street South.

Who We Are: A Firm Built Like the Buildings It Designs

CSA doesn’t stitch a project together casually from outside contractors and hope that the pieces work together later.

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design sits under one roof, staffed by a technical team, roughly a quarter of whom hold professional registration with regulatory bodies in the Bahamas and Florida.

Our in-house structure is why hotels along Cable Beach, government agencies, and banks on Shirley Street keep coming back: one firm, accountable for the whole design, not just its own slice of it.

Beyond the local office, CSA keeps working relationships with associates abroad, so a project too large or too specialized for a six-person team never has to slow down waiting on outside expertise.

What Services Does CSA Offer?

CSA provides electrical system design, network cabling and communications design, alarm system design, plumbing system design, and mechanical (HVAC) systems design – all engineered in-house for Bahamian climate conditions, from a single office in Nassau.

Electrical & Low-Voltage Systems Design: Power, Data, and Everything a Building Says to Itself

Electrical system design is usually where a building budget quietly breaks when a load gets underestimated or the wiring ends up fighting the space instead of serving it.

We build the system around actual use first, then layer in structured cabling and network infrastructure design so that the same walls can carry a server room, a point-of-sale system, and a lobby of guest devices without conflict.

Fire alarm systems, security and communications systems, and low-voltage design are handled in the same pass, so a client isn't coordinating four separate contractors. They're working with one team that already knows how every system needs to talk to the others.

Mechanical & Plumbing Systems Design: Water, Air, and the Systems No One Notices Until They Fail

HVAC (mechanical) system design, along with plumbing and drainage system design, rarely get admired, at least not until the air conditioning gives out in July or a pipe fails behind a finished wall.

We treat both as engineering problems from day one, sized for hurricane-rated performance, tropical humidity, and salt-air corrosion – the kind of engineering that’s built for Bahamian conditions rather than adapted from mainland climates that don't apply here.

It's the difference between a system that survives its warranty and one that survives the building.

Where We've Worked: Three Decades of Buildings That Still Work

The portfolio makes our case better than any pitch will.

The Baha Mar Club House. Commonwealth Bank on Blue Hill Road. First Caribbean International Bank. The Ansbacher Building. Royal Star Insurance. Government agencies, commercial developers, and educational institutions across New Providence, Nassau, and the wider Caribbean have trusted CSA with projects that couldn't survive a wrong guess.

The buildings still run exactly as designed, years past ribbon-cutting. It's a client list built one referral at a time in an industry where a bad electrical design or an undersized water system doesn't stay quiet for long.

Get Started: Start With a Conversation, Not a Contract

A project doesn't need finished drawings to be worth a call.

Whether it's a feasibility study, a full slate of MEP engineering services, or a second opinion on someone else's plans, Chris Symonette & Associates in Nassau, Bahamas, takes the first conversation as seriously as the final inspection.
